An ore is a type of rock that contains sufficient minerals with important elements including metals that can be economically extracted from the rock  The ores are extracted from the earth through raw ore mining, they are then refined to extract the valuable element, or elements.Mine operators extract ores (metal-bearing rock) from underground mines and surface mines using machinery, explosives and chemicals. Metals are mined in form of raw ores. Metals are crucial to society and enable our modern standard of living. Metals and minerals are natural resources that human beings have been mining for thousands of years. Contemporary metal mining is dominated by iron ore, copper and gold, with 2 billion tons of iron ore, nearly 20 million tons of copper and 2,000 tons of gold produced every year. Tens to hundreds of tons of other metals that are essential components for electronics, green energy production, and high-technology products are produced annually.

Blasting is an integral part of surface mining operations. The first step in mining is to break the rocks into pieces by carefully placing explosive charges into holes drilled in the rock. Blasting is carefully done by highly experienced technicians.

The side effects of blasting are.
  • Flyrock: a rock or rocks moving through the air or along the ground after a blast and travel beyond the blast area (security zone),
  • ground vibrations: a seismic wave that moves through the ground following a blast,
  • airblast: a concussion (or pressure) wave that moves through air following a blast,
  • fumes: the gaseous byproducts that are the result of an explosives detonation, and
  • dust: small particles of earthen material that may be temporarily suspended in air.

Blasting breaks up two kinds of rock. The rocks with enough valuable minerals – the ore – are hauled to a processing facility called a mill. In many cases the ore is hauled in large trucks, but in some mines the ore is crushed on site and hauled to the mill on large conveyor belts. The process of loading and hauling is a complementary service that must contribute to the efficiency of mining process as a whole. It is an essential part of calculating a productive mining process and must be considered taking matters of machinery and equipment utilized against outsourcing waste movements and haulage to better predict any mining project’s efficiency in terms of production and well as excellence in the process.
